Registration and extension of lease agreements

If a landowner does not intend to use his or her land for a period of time, he or she can rent out the land to another individual.

A land lease is based on a terminable contract that gives the right of possession and use of land (for business and other activities) to another individual for a set period of time.

The right to use the land on loan terminates when the lease does.

Land lease agreement must meet essential conditions defined by current Ukrainian legislation. The duration of a lease is determined by the lessor and tenant, but, in accordance with Ukrainian law, may not exceed 50 years.

The right to lease is subject to state registration in the State Register of Rights to Immovable Property. The formalizing of the lease provides the tenant the legitimate, temporary use of another’s land.
